Video Games: A Menace or the Future?
Certainly not. These days, computer literacy is an essential skill that is practically indispensable. It’s important for your work, but also for family communication and relaxation.
For children, this is particularly critical. These days, it’s important to start teaching children this skill at the right age. Most five-year-olds today already know how to find a fairy tale on a tablet, and whether you like it or not, it’s becoming an integral part of upbringing and education.

Today’s computer and console games are a chapter unto themselves, and of course, mobile games are not far behind. Many people say that Minecraft was one of the first such creative games. Although many people laughed at the beginning, saying that it was mainly played by young children, Minecraft triumphed. And it began to develop important qualities in children, such as creativity, quick thinking, caution, and focus on the task at hand. This game actually developed all the necessary skills to prepare a child to enter the workforce and be able to solve problems and come up with creative solutions there. For example, escape games, puzzles, and object-finding games developed the ability to solve problems quickly. That’s why today’s seven-year-old boy won’t hesitate in the face of a problem that would be difficult for a sixty-year-old with almost no experience with these modern conveniences to handle.
However, even today’s retirees can use games to have fun, reminisce about their youth, relearn how to communicate, and develop long-forgotten reflexes and reactions.
VR games, or virtual reality games, are a chapter unto themselves; in recent years, these have been among the most rapidly developing projects, and a few individuals already have this expensive setup right in their own homes. VR games foster creativity and problem-solving on a completely different level, where almost everything feels somewhat real. For example, archery develops accuracy and concentration.
However, VR has been particularly successful among retirees or those with limited mobility. This way, they can virtually go to the beach, go diving, or walk through the woods without any physical effort. Such VR sets are often available in retirement homes, where residents use them once a week under the supervision of experts. And they enjoy it.

So, form your own opinion. These days, video games are useful; they’re practically essential preparation for a child’s future. But the best part is that we enjoy them, we love them, and we can choose whatever we want.
